During the ROCKWELL AUTOMATION FAIR event held in BOSTON we were interviewed by Mr Stan Miller, EMEA PUBLIC & ANALYST RELATIONS Manager for ROCKWELL in the ROKStudios. Our CEO Michele De Stasio spoke about Augmented Reality applied to the world of industry and how TEKNA AUTOMAZIONE E CONTROLLO has developed an application that uses the AR to support the maintenance of industrial machinery.

We are pleased to have participated in MECSPE Bari, from November 23 to 25, 2023, at the Nuova Fiera del Levante. On this occasion, our team of professionals exhibited some of our applications in collaborative and robotic industrial automation applied to palletization, welding, and product selection with artificial vision systems. Furthermore, we presented an immersive demo of our Augmented Reality Maintenance service, an application developed to support companies in the routine and extraordinary maintenance of industrial plants and machinery. The goal of TEKNA AUTOMAZIONE E CONTROLLO is to provide its customers with practical robotics solutions designed to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow’s automation.

We are ready!…On 𝟮𝟭-𝟮𝟮-𝟮𝟯 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 we at Tekna Automazione e Controllo will participate in the IRMRA – 24th Rubber Conference and Expo at the 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗮𝗶 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿. In the conference we will discuss how the Tire industry plays a significant role in the automotive sector. Ensuring the quality of products is a critical aspect of tire production and the automatic machines can help to reduce the number of scratched and defective tires during the production process. The production of different types of tires, using various compounds, and adhering to allowable tolerances in the production processes necessitate the use of advanced technologies such as Laser Profilometry, Computer Vision, AI (Artificial Intelligence), and Neutral Network to detect and identify defects on the tires. These innovative technologies are implemented in the Vision Tire System 3D machine, enabling it to identify defects with objectivity, more accurately and at a faster rate than manual analysis, thus reducing the number of defective tires produced and minimizing waste. The Vision Tire System 3D machine performs the analysis of tires produced, detects defects present on the tires within a very short cycle time (30 seconds), creates a real-time database of defects, and communicates this data to the customer’s MES system, optimizing the production process and reducing the number of defective and scratched tires. Vision Tire System 3D represents a significant step towards sustainability and circular economy in tire production, leading to improvements in product quality and an overall reduction of the environmental impact.

Job Days are days dedicated to the themes of work, training and self-entrepreneurship, an opportunity for discussion with companies, whose focus is the economic and employment potential of the area. The 𝗧𝗲𝗸𝗻𝗮 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼 of Foggia and the 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗰𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗿𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗢.M.I Srl of Lacedonia (AV), two local companies operating in the Industrial Automation sector, will illustrate the needs of the sector in relation to the required professionalism, the trend and characteristics of the labor market as well as the medium and long-term prospects. Laser Sysyem for Primer removal

The primer is a material that is directly applied to ferrous materials, allowing them to be stored outdoors to prevent damage from atmospheric agents, especially in saline environments. Currently, the removal of primer is typically done through sandblasting or mechanical abrasion. These operations generate pollution in the welding environment, create environmental and noise pollution, and require the use of complex systems for the extraction and disposal of the material residues generated during the abrasive process. Moreover, removing the primer using these methods creates reflective surfaces on the areas to be welded. During the welding process, the primer produces vapors and powders that often get trapped in the welding pool and beneath the protective slag. These residues can create cracks and voids within the weld bead, reducing the strength of the weld and requiring rework of the produced structure. In structural fabrication welding, achieving complete material penetration, defect-free welds, and the absence of air bubbles, holes, cracks, and foreign residues is crucial. Innovative laser welding systems allow for optimal results and high-quality welds. However, they require non-reflective surfaces and the absence of primer to avoid power reduction and contamination of the welding pool. Tekna Automazione e Controllo has developed the “Laser System for Primer Removal” product family, which offers an effective solution for primer removal, including high-strength zinc-based primers. These systems are designed to be integrated into automated welding lines and utilize laser technology to accurately remove the primer.

Wheel/Tire assembly ceck

To read the DOT code engraved on a tire and check the right wheel/tire assembled set requires an automatic machine that is able to decode the DOT code of the tire and verify the shape and color of the wheel paired. This is obtained using profilometers as vision sensors, suitable to acquire profile from the surface of the tire (rubber with black-on-black lettering), a matrixial RGB camera, to read the shape and the color of the wheel, and customized software to reconstruct shoulder’s 3D surface, decode and recognize the characters of DOT code, the shape of the wheel and verify the right coupling of the wheel/tire assembled set, according the attended value transmitted to the machine from customer’s MES. The machine is equipped with a centering tools, that positions the wheel/tire on the center of the conveyor, and a rotating system that turns the wheel/tire set of 360 degrees, to allow the scanning of the area where is engraved the DOT code: the profilometer will positioned in the right positions on the Upper side of the tire, according to the dimensions of the wheel/tire set to process. Tires of different Rim, Out Diameters and Tread’s height can be processed on the machine. The machine can be equipped with two profilometers, according to customers requirement, to read the DOT code on the Upper side and Lower side of the wheel/tire assembled set.

Tire Technology Expo: Thank you All

We were delighted to have participated in Tire Technology Expo 23, the most important event in Europe that welcomes the main manufacturers of tires and technologies related to the tire world. The Tekna Automazione e Controllo team of specialists presented the Vision Tire System 3D machines able to reconstruct the 3D model of all the surfaces of the tire, inside and outside, and automatically detects, classifies and measures every kind of defects with an high efficiency and repeatability. The systems also perform OCR decoding of writings on tire surface and check the correctness and quality of symbols and brandigs engraved on the tire. From this year we have introduced the 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. See you at the next edition!!!

We are almost there! On 21, 22 and 23 March we will exhibit our Vision Tire System 3D at the Tire Technology Expo 23 in Hannover: the innovative automatic final inspection solution for detecting defects and decoding OCR lettering on tyres. Thanks to the Vision Tire System 3D technology, it is possible to acquire the 3D model of all the surfaces of the tyre, internal and external, and automatically detect, classify and measure any type of defect present on it with high efficiency and repeatability. Work Experience “InnovatiON”
